Vondroušová má oproti své reprezentační kolegyni zápasové manko. Do kolotoče zápasů na východě Asie vstoupila s velkým zpožděním. Už tak zraněními sužované její tělo, utrpělo na US Open další šrám v podobě zraněného kolene. Navázal na sobotní životní úspěch Chusniddina Karimova, který byl druhý ve váhové kategorie do 73 kg.Čtyřiatřicetiletý Krpálek z pozice prvního nasazeného zahájil soutěž ve čtvrtfinále reprízou finále z Limy a i tentokrát Rafaela Buzacariniho z Brazílie zdolal až v prodloužení.
