Before losing its two-game winning streak to the Golden State Valkyries (88-77), Indiana Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun (88-71), but one altercation stole the spotlight.

Near the end of the third quarter with 4:48 left in the game, Fever star Caitlin Caitlin had the ball and was driving to her left, but Connecticut’s Jacy Sheldon punched her in the face before she could continue.

The 23-year-old star was clearly angry and in response, pushed her slightly. At that point the altercation was joined by Mabrey, who pushed Clark to the ground in front of the referee.

Although it was believed that Marina would be ejected, she was only given a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct (Clark received the same punishment). Sheldon, meanwhile, received a flagrant foul.

This decision, and especially the foul on CC generated frustration from fans who claimed that she did not initiate the altercation and needs more protection from the league.

Fallon joins fans’ plea

On his renowned “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the 50-year-old host seemed to direct his speech to the WNBA to take appropriate action and look out for the 23-year-old Fever star:

What is going on (in the WNBA)? Protect Caitlin Clark at all costs, please. Enough of this. Please!

The truth is that this is not the first time that Clark has been the protagonist of this type of altercation on the court. Of course, this is not an impediment for CC to continue showing his performance in the team, as he averages 19.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game.

However, being one of the most prominent figures in the league, basketball fans expect them to take care of the person who attracts thousands of spectators to their games and makes the audience numbers grow.

Will the WNBA listen to the request of Jimmy Fallon and all the fans?

Mariners finally make their big offseason move, bolster infield by acquiring Brendan Donovan from Cardinals

With a little help from a familiar facilitator, the Seattle Mariners finally executed the deal they’d been pursuing all winter on Monday, acquiring Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals. The deal is a three-way swap including the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle’s most frequent trade partner during president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto’s decade-long tenure leading the front office. After months of reports indicating Seattle’s interest in Donovan — and uncertainty about whether the Cardinals would actually part with him as part of their dramatic offseason of offloading — it’s fitting that the Rays’ surprise involvement helped push this deal across the finish line. Here’s the breakdown:AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMariners receive: INF/OF Brendan Donovan (from Cardinals)Cardinals receive: RHP Jurrangelo Cijntje (from Mariners), OF Tai Peete (from Mariners), OF Colton Ledbetter (from Rays), Competitive Balance Round B Pick (currently No. 68, from Mariners), Competitive Balance […]
