Am Dienstag (21 Uhr) steht noch das Spiel gegen Ägypten an, da kann die Nachwuchs-Auswahl des DHB alles klarmachen.
Was ist das für ein verrücktes Spiel gegen die favorisierten Spanier, die zuvor mit dieser Altersklasse alle EM- und WM-Turniere beherrschten. Zuerst schlägt das Pech gleich dreimal heftig zu.

Zweiter Schock: Es sind 8:26 Minuten gespielt, da haut Kapitän Henri Pabst (21/THW Kiel) etwas übermotiviert Petar Cikusa um, eine Zwei-Minuten-Strafe hätte auch gereicht, doch Pabst sieht glatt Rot. Ein herber Verlust für einen der deutschen Schlüsselspieler.

Dann fällt beim Stand von 5:5 nach zehn Minuten auch noch das Licht aus. Stromausfall in der Arena in Kielce, weil draußen ein Sturm mit Gewitter tobt. 15 Minuten lang müssen sich die Teams auf dem Parkett warmhalten, dann geht es erst weiter. Doch dann legen die deutschen Junioren in dem Chaos-Spiel den Schalter um. Stark in der Deckung und mit einer Top-Wurfquote (83 Prozent) geht die Mannschaft von Bundestrainer Martin Heuberger (61) mit vier Toren Vorsprung in die Halbzeit – 19:15.

Keeper Frederik Höler (20/VfL Potsdam) wird am Ende zum Held, er pariert gleich drei Siebenmeter und Florian Drosten (Hamm) hämmert drei Sekunden vor dem Ende per Strafwurf zum 35:35 ein.
