Another Sanders is on the rise, but this time, it’s not under the Friday night lights or the NFL spotlight.

Shelomi Sanders, the youngest of Deion Sanders‘ children, is forging her own identity far from the gridiron, quietly building her legacy as a standout athlete and passionate advocate for environmental and health equity.
After making waves as a high school basketball star at Rockwall-Heath High in Texas, Shelomi took her talents to Alabama A&M, where she now suits up for the Bulldogs.
And she wasted no time making an impression. In just 10 minutes during one of her first collegiate outings, the freshman guard dropped 14 points, showing off the same explosive potential that defines her family’s athletic DNA.

But for Shelomi, success isn’t confined to the basketball court. The daughter of Coach Prime has also set her sights on creating impact far beyond sports.
Using her platform to spotlight rural injustice
Shelomi recently took to Instagram to announce a new partnership that demonstrates her growing commitment to activism.
She’s now a proud collaborator with The Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice (CREEJ)-a nonprofit that tackles systemic environmental inequities in underserved communities, especially in rural America.
The group’s mission focuses on providing access to clean water and functioning sanitation systems, two basic needs that remain a luxury for far too many in the U.S.
“Rooted in purpose. Powered by change. Proud to stand with @creejorg,” Shelomi wrote in her caption, accompanying a short video where she explained the significance of the work.
“So, it’s known that so many communities in the U.S. are still living without basic needs, like clean water or even proper sewer systems. That’s why I’m proud to be partnering with CREEJ,” she told her followers in the video.
With a calm confidence, she explained that CREEJ is taking direct action to fix broken infrastructure, advocate for marginalized communities, and bring lasting change to areas often overlooked by policy and investment.
“Not only are they fighting for justice, but they are bringing real change to underserved rural areas,” Shelomi continued. “So I stand with CREEJ and their mission to make clean and safe living conditions a right and not a privilege.”
This isn’t the first time Shelomi Sanders has stepped up for causes close to her heart. She’s also a vocal advocate for individuals living with Type 1 diabetes, a condition she personally battles.
On a recent episode of Beyond Type 1, a podcast focused on life with chronic illness, Shelomi spoke candidly about her challenges and how she’s still navigating daily struggles.
“Still learning… It never stops,” she said.
