After three bad games in a row, the Chicago Sky won at last on Tuesday night, beating the Los Angeles Sparks 97-86 at Wintrust Arena. This win lifted the team’s mood and led to a real talk from star player Angel Reese. She shared the team’s feelings and what drives them.
“We’re tired of getting cussed out,” Reese said, showing a smile, talking about head coach Tyler Marsh’s hard style.”Not literally, but we had to be better in the post. We made the adjustments.”

Rising back up again
The Sky now have 4 wins and 10 losses, landing them 10th in the WNBA ranks. This win was a big lift for a young team still working out who they are. Reese, now the heart of the team, played great: 18 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assissts, and 4 steals, making 6 of 12 shots and 6 of 7 free throws.
Her team partner, Kamilla Cardoso, also shined, making a top score of 27 points with 7 rebounds, 3 assissts, and 2 blocks. Cardoso will be away for two weeks with Brazil’s team in the 2025 AmeriCup, so Reese’s lead role is key for now.
Good overall atmosphere
Reese also stood up for her team and coaches, asking fans and critics to be kind. “Give them some grace, give us some grace, and give Tyler and the staff grace,” she said. “This is a lot of our first and second years, and it’s hard.”
The Sky’s team is young, with many still getting used to the WNBA’s fast and tough play. Reese noted the hard time, mainly for the guards, who get a lot of online hate. “I said kudos to the guards, because we be seeing y’all on they [expletive] on Twitter. Just let them hoop. It’s going to be a process.”
Adding to the night’s feel was WNBA great Lisa Leslie, who was there and cheered Reese on. “She told me, ‘Continue to work. You’re a beast on the boards,‘” Reese said. “She’s like a big sister, a mom, an aunt-whatever you want to call it. She doesn’t have to do that, but she does.”
Leslie, a two-time WNBA winner and Hall of Famer, played all her time with the Sparks, the team the Sky just beat. Her support meant a lot to Reese, who often talks about the need for guidance and being seen in women’s sports.
What’s next for Sky
The Chicago Sky are now facing a hard part of their year, and the path ahead is not going to be easy, mainly since young center Kamilla Cardoso won’t be playing due to the 2025 AmeriCup.

Right now, the Sky have a record of 4-10 and are working hard to get steady. Their latest win against the Sparks gave them hope, but they need to win more to keep thinking about the playoffs. Not having Cardoso, will put extra stress on Angel Reese, Ariel Atkins, and all others to do more.
Coach Tyler Marsh is pushing for the players to get better and tough it out, but the team still struggles with giving away the ball too much and not guarding well.
While the Sky still have a long way to go to get to the playoffs, Tuesday’s win showed what the team could do, and Reese’s growing role as both a key player and a voice for the team.

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to terms with the top power hitter remaining on the free agent market. The O's and first baseman Pete Alonso have agreed to a five-year contract worth $155 million, CBS Sports has confirmed. The deal does not include any opt outs, per the New York Post. The team has not yet announced the signing. The signing comes one day after it was reported the Orioles offered Kyle Schwarber the same five-year, $150 million contract he took to return to the Philadelphia Phillies.
