Sólo con pronunciar la frase “la tranquilidad, la tranquilidad es lo que más se busca”, gran parte de los ciudadanos españoles ya sabrían identificar el vídeo al que corresponde. Esta escena ocurrió hace 13 años, cuando las cámaras de Aragón TV se disponían a grabar cómo había sido el inicio del verano en algunas piscinas de Teruel. Álvaro, protagonista de lo que acabó convirtiéndose en uno de los memes más compartidos, estaba allí.
El problema es que con aquella frase no terminó su intervención. El joven prosiguió con un “Llegas a otras piscinas de aquí de Teruel y hay un montón de panchitos, cubanos y todo eso…” que obligó a la periodista a cortarlo inmediatamente por las connotaciones racistas que tenían sus palabras ante el micrófono. Desde entonces, Álvaro reconoce que ni él ni su entorno lo han pasado nada bien: “17 juicios he tenido por este vídeo por racismo y xenofobia. Los gané todos”.

“Tanto se ha hablado de este meme, que lo más llamativo es que los que realmente me conocen en el día a día dicen que soy diferente”, apunta el joven 13 años después. Ahora se ha convertido en Técnico en Producción Agropecuaria. “El tema es que la frase se sacó de contexto y llegué a recibir incluso amenazas de muerte”, señala sobre cómo fueron los años posteriores.
Sobre por qué pronunció aquella frase, estos son los motivos que expone ahora Álvaro: “A mí me gustaba mucho la natación y había tantísima gente que se te cruzaban en medio de las calles y no dejaban hacer nada a nadie. Haciéndoles cortes de manga a los socorristas incluso. Cuando se lo conté a mi familia me dijeron esa frase y, al día siguiente, la repetí”.
Lo que muchos desconocen es que ese vídeo viral acabó suponiendo un hundimiento personal del que le costó mucha ayuda salir: “Cinco años así. De los 12 hasta los 17. Unos años infernales. Me dieron palizas. Un día llegué con el pecho hundido y un ojo morado a casa. Arruiné mi adolescencia”.
“Llegué a pensar en quitarme del medio, pero mi cabeza hizo click”, recuerda sobre sus momentos más duros. Si tuviera la oportunidad de pedir un deseo, Álvaro tiene claro que es lo que haría: “Volver atrás, me daría una colleja y me diría ‘pero qué haces diciendo semejantes tonterías con lo que te puede repercutir”.
