Washington Mystics - English
WNBA - English

Just one night after lighting up the court with a 27-point performance, Paige Bueckers has been ruled out-and the timing couldn’t be more frustrating for the Dallas Wings.
The rookie sensation and No. 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft is officially out for Saturday night’s matchup against the Washington Mystics due to a right knee issue, the team announced.
The surprise news comes less than 24 hours after Bueckers played nearly 36 and a half minutes and dropped 27 points and six assists in a hard-fought 94-86 loss to Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever.
The Wings have not released specific details about the nature or severity of the knee issue, but it marks the fifth game Bueckers will miss this season. She previously sat out three games while in concussion protocol and missed a fourth due to illness.
Paige shined against the Fever
In her 13 appearances, Bueckers has averaged an impressive 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game-instantly proving why she was taken first overall.
Friday night’s game was billed as the highly anticipated pro debut duel between Bueckers and last year’s No. 1 pick, Caitlin Clark. But fans were left disappointed after Clark was ruled out with a groin injury-her second straight missed game.
Still, nearly 20,000 fans packed the American Airlines Center in Dallas, eager to watch the league’s next generation of superstars.
Although the head-to-head showdown was spoiled, Bueckers put on a show of her own. After a quiet start, she came alive midgame and almost carried the Wings to an upset win. Her second-half takeover reminded everyone just how dangerous she can be when healthy.
Dallas will be eagerly awaiting its star
Now, questions linger: How serious is this knee issue? Will it slow the momentum Bueckers has been building? And how will the Wings fare without their rising star on the floor?
Dallas hosts Washington on Saturday night at the College Park Center in Arlington-a significantly smaller venue than Friday’s electric crowd downtown. But the buzz surrounding Bueckers remains massive… even as she’s forced back to the sideline.
