Angekündigt, aber trotzdem kurios und sicherlich ein einmaliger Vorgang bei einer Junioren-WM, die beiden deutschen Spieler Felix Göttler (19/Essen) und Fritz Haake (20/Dessau) reisen vorzeitig ab und während ihre Kollegen um Platz 5 bei der WM kämpfen, machen sie sich zeitgleich in Essen für das umstrittene Zweitliga-Wiederholungsspiel warm.
Bundestrainer Martin Heuberger (61) geht so nur mit 14 Spielern statt 16 in die Partie gegen Ägypten.

So holt Deutschland den Rückstand (11:15) auf und kann auf 15:15 stellen. Endlich hat der DHB-Nachwuchs Betriebstemperatur erreicht. Nach 45 Minuten führen die Deutschen 20:19.

Übrigens: U21-Weltmeister wurde Dänemark nach einem 29:26 im Finale gegen Portugal.
