Since arriving in the NFL, Josh Allen has completely changed the face of the Buffalo Bills franchise, which-prior to the quarterback out of Wyoming-was a complete mess. They were the laughingstock of the AFC East, especially at the hands of the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. But everything has changed.

Today, the Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL, largely because they are led by Josh Allen, who is one of the league’s top quarterbacks and is coming off an MVP season. Allen has only missed the playoffs in his rookie year, yet he still hasn’t been able to lead the Bills to the Super Bowl-mainly because he hasn’t been able to get past his nemesis, Patrick Mahomes, in crucial moments.
The Bills have suffered four consecutive playoff losses to the Kansas City Chiefs, twice in the AFC Championship Game. That’s the big mark still left on Allen’s resume-his outstanding debt to the “Bills Mafia.” He’ll surely be looking to change that in 2025, a season in which the Bills are one of the top favorites in the AFC.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh Believes Josh Allen Has Everything to Be the Best Quarterback in the NFL
Josh Allen has led the Bills to five consecutive AFC East titles and is the first player in NFL history to total more than 40 touchdowns in five straight seasons, so there’s no doubt he’s one of the league’s best.
Former NFL wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh made the case for why Allen could be considered the best quarterback in the NFL:
“He might be the most physically gifted quarterback we’ve ever seen-size, speed, power, arm strength,” said the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver on FS1’s The Facility. “Everyone said, ‘Oh, he got really good when Stefon Diggs arrived.’ Then Diggs left, and it was like, ‘uh, Josh Allen is going to decline.’ But he improved and won the MVP.”
The big asterisk on Allen’s career is the Super Bowl. Without that title, his career might end up being seen as just an anecdote. That puts enormous pressure on his shoulders, especially as the window to win a Vince Lombardi Trophy could be slowly closing.
“He would be on the brink of becoming one of the greatest QBs in history,” said Houshmandzadeh. “For me, if Josh Allen wins a Super Bowl, the only debate left is with himself, historically. If he wins one, he’ll be talked about as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.”
The Buffalo Bills are the only team favored by sportsbooks to win every game of the upcoming season.
