After a surging 2024-2025 season, the Detroit Pistons are adding to their squad, signing veteran guard Caris LeVert to a short-term deal. LeVert has reportedly agreed to a two-year, $29 million deal with Detroit, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 30-year-old guard was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in February in a deal that sent De’Andre Hunter to the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeVert’s two-year deal with Cleveland expired this offseason, leading him to sign with the Pistons as a free agent.
The guard will join a Pistons team that is emerging after an ugly rebuild, led by anchoring players like Cade Cunningham, Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey. One year after an NBA record-tying 28-game losing streak, Detroit secured a playoff berth before losing to the New York Knicks in the first round.

The news of LeVert’s signing comes as veteran guard Dennis Schröder, also a free agent, is reportedly set to sign with the Sacramento Kings. Schröder arrived in Detroit in February after being traded twice in less than 24 hours.
LeVert will serve a similar role as Schröder, both as a leader and as a threat in the backcourt. The guard averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists last season, putting in just under 25 minutes per game on average.
As an added bonus, the signing also marks a homecoming of sorts for LeVert, who played for Michigan from 2012-2016 before going pro.
