Italská média hned vydedukovala, že jeho slova mířila především na záložníka Hakana Calhanoglua. „Opravdu myslel jeho,“ přiznal poté prezident Interu Giuseppe Marotta. „Nikdo nám dosud jasně neřekl, že by chtěl odejít. S Hakanem si promluvíme a situaci vyřešíme nejlepším možným způsobem,“ řekl Marotta pro DAZN.
Martínezova řeč mu nevadila. „Jsou to slova kapitána, zdůraznil některé věci, které jsou pravdivé. Když tu některý hráč už nechce být, je správné, aby odešel. Klub s Lautarovým postojem souzní. Má vítězný duch, který nás může dostat hodně daleko,“ konstatoval Marotta.
