Saying that Josh Allen owes something to the Bills might sound harsh for the current NFL MVP, but the truth is, he does. The quarterback has so much talent and charisma that having someone like him-who came out of Wyoming-is the golden opportunity Buffalo fans have waited decades for to finally reach the Super Bowl.
Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen are warned by Lamar Jackson about what is going to happen next season
Since Josh Allen joined the Bills (excluding his rookie year when he shared time with Tyrod Taylor), he has consistently taken the team to the playoffs. They’ve always been in the spotlight in January, but they just haven’t managed to take that final step-especially against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allen has a 0-4 record against Mahomes’ Chiefs in the playoffs, and he’s 0-2 in AFC Championship Games. So, if he wants to take the Bills to the Super Bowl, it’s very likely he’ll have to face the Chiefs again in January-and this time, beat them.
If they don’t reach the Super Bowl, it would be a failure for Josh Allen
In betting houses, the Buffalo Bills are the only team favored to win each of their games next season. And in the AFC East, it seems like they won’t have much competition-since the Jets, Patriots, and Dolphins are either rebuilding or regressing.
The Bills haven’t made it to the Super Bowl since the 1993 season, so with everything in their favor-and having the MVP, Josh Allen-a Sports Illustrated writer delivered a bold statement: “I’m not afraid to say it’s Super Bowl or bust for them.”
It’s worth noting that the Bills are returning most of their key players. In 2024, with an average of 30.9 points per game, they had the second-best offense in the league-so expectations are sky-high in Buffalo.
“Is this the best team Josh Allen has ever played on? He’s obviously at the peak of his game. The schedule is favorable,” said Breer. “I don’t know how you look at this and not say they should have home-field advantage in the playoffs. Based on what the other AFC contenders are facing, they should be the number one seed in the conference.”
So Josh Allen will have all the pressure on his shoulders in 2025. Still, he’s the MVP-and there are plenty of reasons to believe.
