Der Handball-Skandal in der zweiten Liga!
Seit Donnerstagmittag ist klar: Der ASV Hamm-Westfalen steht als Absteiger aus der 2. Liga fest.
Hamm hatte nach dem Wiederholungsspiel zwischen TuSEM Essen und Dessau-Roßlauer HV (24:30) am Sonntag eine Erklärung veröffentlicht, wonach der Klub, übrigens gemeinsam mit Dessau, auf der Mitgliederversammlung der Daikin Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) am Mittwoch und Donnerstag in Köln eine Aufstockung der 2. Liga auf 19 Teams beantragen wird.

Der Antrag stand nicht auf der Tagesordnung, die Teilnehmer mussten also erstmal darüber abstimmen, ob die Abstimmung auf die Tagesordnung genommen wird.
Dafür hätte es eine Drei-Viertel-Mehrheit gebraucht, doch nicht mal die kam zustande. Nach Informationen von SPORT BILD lautete das Ergebnis 22 Stimmen für die Änderung der Tagesordnung, 19 dagegen, die restlichen Stimmen waren Enthaltungen.

Auf der Mitgliederversammlung sind übrigens Vertreter aller Erstliga- und Zweitliga-Klubs dabei.
Hintergrund: Das Wiederholungsspiel wurde nötig, weil ein Regelverstoß bei der ersten, ursprünglichen Auflage des Spiels Essen gegen Dessau (29. April) passiert war. Dessau siegte 28:27 in Essen, hatte in den letzten drei Sekunden allerdings einen Spieler zu viel auf der Platte. Änderte am Spielstand zwar nichts mehr. Aber Essen, damals noch abstiegsgefährdet, ging dennoch in Einspruch und bekam letztlich vor dem Bundesgericht recht.

Hamms Geschäftsführer Markus Fuchs: „Ab sofort geht unser Blick nur noch nach vorn. Auch wenn viele die Gründe für den mit Dessau gemeinsam eingereichten Antrag auf den ersten Blick nicht verstanden haben, uns ging es ja auch darum, die Lücken in den aktuellen Durchführungsbestimmungen aufzuzeigen. Eine wochenlange Hängepartie – vor allem für einen an sich unbeteiligten Dritten – wird es hoffentlich in der Zukunft im Sinne des Sports und der 2. Handball-Bundesliga nie wieder geben.“
Man werde nun in den nächsten Tagen unter Hochdruck die Personalplanungen für die Saison 2025/26 vorantreiben. Fuchs weiter: „Das Thema ist ab sofort abgehakt. Jetzt stehen viele Gespräche und Termine an, die in den zurückliegenden drei Wochen nicht final zum Abschluss zu bringen waren. Das von mir am letzten Spieltag gegebene Versprechen gilt: Wir kommen wieder!“
