The Dodgers infielder could not even leave the field on his own as he had to be helped off the field after suffering a serious injury to his left knee during the game against the White Sox
What happened to Max Muncy?
The incident occurred in the sixth inning, when Michael A. Taylor slid into third base and collided with Muncy’s knee, causing his leg to flex unnaturally.
Although Muncy was able to get up and leave the field with the help of a trainer, the team announced that he will undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine if the injury warrants a stint on the disabled list.
Likewise, manager Dave Roberts avoided alarmism, hoping that it is only a sprain and not a torn ligament, which could leave him out for more than half a year, depending on the severity of the injury. Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw lamented the play and shared his wishes for his teammate’s speedy recovery

The impact alarmed everyone, including the fans and players on the field. At that moment, Clayton Kershaw was one out away from reaching his 3,000th strikeout, and the atmosphere changed from joy to tension in a matter of seconds.
Alex Muncy’s statistics
Max Muncy, 34, has been a key piece in the Los Angeles offense over the past two months. After overcoming a slow stretch (hitting .210 with a .678 OPS through May 31), Muncy caught fire thereafter, hitting .333/.454/.690 with a 1.143 OPS. His ability to drive in runs has been vital for the National League West leaders, so if a serious injury is confirmed, it would be a very significant loss for the Los Angeles team.
The MRI scan scheduled for Thursday will be key to determining the true extent of the injury and whether Muncy will have to spend time on the sidelines. Until then, the Dodgers can only hope and keep their fingers crossed.
