Ein Schwarz-Gelber trägt nun Blau!
Schon am Donnerstagabend hatte der BVB den Wechsel von Jamie Gittens (20) zu Chelsea verkündet, jetzt sind auch die letzten vertraglichen Details geklärt.
Bei dem Klub-WM-Halbfinalisten unterschreibt Gittens einen Mega-Vertrag bis 2032!
Was steckt dahinter?
Die XXL-Vertragslaufzeiten sind bei Chelsea seit der Übernahme durch den neuen Eigentümer Todd Boehly im Mai 2022 üblich. Grund: Damit teilt der London-Klub die Ablösesummen auf mehrere Jahre auf, hält so die Financial-Fair-Play-Auflagen ein und vermeidet mögliche Strafen.
Gittens verabschiedet sich auf seinem Instagram-Profil mit einem emotionalen Post vom BVB, schreibt: „Nach fünf tollen Jahren ist es für mich an der Zeit, weiterzuziehen und ein neues Kapitel in meiner Karriere zu beginnen. Ich kam als 16-Jähriger zum BVB, und vom ersten Tag an hat der Verein an mich geglaubt und mir den Raum gegeben, mich als Spieler und als Mensch zu entwickeln. Ich habe während meiner Zeit hier so viel gelernt, und dafür werde ich immer dankbar sein.“

Er widmet sich auch an die BVB-Fans: „Von dem Moment an, als ich mein Debüt gab, habt ihr mir nichts als Liebe entgegengebracht. Ihr habt mir klargemacht, was diesen Verein so besonders macht. Das werde ich immer in mir tragen. Ich wünsche euch allen nichts als Erfolg für die Zukunft. Dortmund wird immer mein Zuhause sein!“

Sein neues Zuhause ist nun also London. Der England-Star war in den vergangenen Tagen bereits beim FC Chelsea, um den Medizincheck zu absolvieren. Danach wurde Gittens beim BVB quasi in Watte gepackt, durfte nicht mehr mit dem Team trainieren. Grund: die mögliche Verletzungs-Gefahr und damit das Risiko, dass der Deal doch noch platzt.
Den Durchbruch in den Verhandlungen schafften zuletzt Sport-Boss Lars Ricken (48) und Sportdirektor Sebastian Kehl (45) Anfang der vergangenen Woche, als Letzterer die Chelsea-Delegation persönlich zu Verhandlungen in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) traf.
Sein Signal: Der BVB werde von seinen Forderungen nicht abweichen. Chelsea knickte ein.
Ein Top-Deal! Denn als Gittens 2020 von Manchester City nach Deutschland kam, musste der Klub gerade einmal 90.000 Euro Ausbildungsentschädigung zahlen.
