Patrick Mahomes is laser-focused on securing his fourth Super Bowl ring-regardless of what armchair critics may think. Following a radio host’s harsh and unfounded remarks about the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s alleged lack of physical fitness, Mahomes’ longtime trainer stepped up with a fiery defense.
With training camp right around the corner, Mahomes and his family took a short vacation to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend. Naturally, his wife Brittany shared a few moments from their getaway on Instagram-and that’s when things blew up.
Shortly after the photos surfaced, radio personality Kevin Kietzman launched into a harsh critique of Mahomes. “He’s an embarrassment. Stop the fast food, do a sit-up, do something,” he said. “You’ve got a $500 million contract-it’s your job.”
Bobby Stroupe, Mahomes’ personal trainer, wasn’t having it.
“Mahomes has the ideal body of an NFL QB”
Stroupe, founder of the Athlete Performance Enhancer Center and Mahomes’ trainer for years, immediately took to social media to back the four-time Super Bowl champ. On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Stroupe directly addressed Kietzman:
“I have questions for you, @kkhasissues. When did Patrick look tired in a game? When did he lack the physical ability to make a play on a long drive? When have you seen us train or watched him eat? What do you know about his regimen?”
Stroupe then reminded the public that elite athletic performance doesn’t always come with six-pack abs. “Research QBs and pitchers in the Hall of Fame with six-packs. What percentage of them played at a high level that way?”

This isn’t the first time Mahomes has faced criticism over his body type. The same conversation made headlines a few years ago, prompting even his father, Patrick Sr., to speak up and clarify that the “dad bod” look runs in the family.
Fed up with the body-shaming, Stroupe issued a bold challenge:
“If you want to see what in ‘shape’ means, go make it through a practice at Saint Jo or run hurry offense, scrambling back to back to back plays.”
Whether Kietzman takes him up on it or not, one thing’s clear-Mahomes is more than ready to chase ring number four.
