Es war eine der Überraschungen der Fußball-Bundesliga-Rechtevergabe: RTL sicherte sich das Top-Spiel der 2. Liga, das sonst traditionell von Sport1 übertragen wurde. Jetzt steht fest, auf welches Personal der Sender bei der Partie am Samstagabend (Anstoß: 20.30 Uhr) setzen wird. Im Hauptprogramm RTL führt mit Laura Wontorra (36) und Florian König (57) die erste Moderations-Reihe im Wechsel durch die Fußball-Abende.
„Da kehre ich mit der 2. Liga zu meinen Wurzeln zurück“, sagt Wontorra im Interview mit SPORT BILD. „Als das Top-Spiel noch am Montagabend stattfand, war ich dort erst für Sky und dann viele Jahre für Sport1 im Einsatz. Die 2. Liga war das Baby, mit dem ich angefangen habe. Ich habe es geliebt: geile Stadien und toller Fußball.“ Außerdem ist die Moderatorin auch bei den Länderspielen der deutschen Nationalmannschaft im Einsatz.

Zum Start am 2. August wird die Begegnung Bielefeld gegen Düsseldorf übertragen. Eine Woche später folgt dann das Duell zwischen Kaiserslautern und Schalke. Insgesamt sind bei RTL rund zehn besonders attraktive Spiele im Laufe der Saison geplant. Zwar gingen durch die Aufstiege von Köln und dem HSV zwei Quoten-Garanten an die erste Liga verloren, doch mit unter anderem Schalke, Hertha, Dresden, Nürnberg, Hannover und Düsseldorf sind noch viele fanstarke Klubs vertreten. Die übrigen Spiele werden im Schwester-Kanal Nitro gezeigt. Dort moderiert in der Regel Anna Kraft (39), die aber auch bei RTL zum Einsatz kommen kann.
Das Experten-Team bilden Felix Kroos (34), der 154-mal in der 2. Liga spielte (u. a. Union Berlin) und Ex-Nationalspieler Patrick Helmes (41), der 79 Zweitliga-Spiele (Köln) absolvierte. Die Begegnungen werden im Wechsel kommentiert von Marco Hagemann (48), Robby Hunke (41) und Cornelius Küpper (33).
[–>Kurios: Das Zweitliga-Spiel läuft parallel auch bei Sky. RTL verkündete am 27. Juni, dass man die Pay-TV-Plattform erworben habe – für 150 Mio. Euro plus eine mögliche Nachzahlung von bis zu 377 Mio. Euro (je nach Aktienkurs). Allerdings muss dieser Kauf noch von den Kartellamtsbehörden abgesegnet werden, was voraussichtlich bis 2026 dauern wird. Daher bleibt für den Zuschauer erst einmal alles beim Alten. Sky überträgt in der kommenden Saison, wie bisher, alle 306 Zweitliga-Spiele, unter anderem mit Konferenzschaltungen an den Nachmittagen von Samstag und Sonntag.
RTL investierte bei der Bundesliga-Ausschreibung neben dem Samstagabendspiel auch in die Highlight-Clips der 1. und 2. Liga. Diese gibt es auf der Streaming-Plattform RTL+ in drei Längen: 90 Sekunden (direkt nach Abpfiff), ab drei Minuten (zeitnah nach Spielschuss) und bis zu 15 Minuten im Rahmen einer moderierten Bundesliga-Show.
