En la mañana del martes Matías Almeyda fue presentado como nuevo entrenador del Sevilla, pese a que lleva ya varios días trabajando como blanquirrojo. El club pretende dar un golpe de efecto con su contratación, confiando en que, al margen de las limitaciones económicas que impiden acometer una reconstrucción profunda del plantel, el argentino dé con la tecla para sacarle el máximo rendimiento posible. Su principal objetivo es que “el equipo vuelva a ser competitivo, que vuelva a donde ha jugado otros años, no los últimos dos, y que la afición se sienta identificada”.
Durante su carrera en los banquillos, Almeyda se ha mostrado muy flexible en cuanto a la variedad de esquemas tácticos. Si bien en River Plate comenzó utilizando un 4-4-2, tras su paso a Banfield comenzó a moverse entre el 3-3-1-3, el 4-2-1-3 y el 4-3-3, eso sí, casi siempre con una actitud ofensiva y dominante. “No me encierro en algo en especial. Una cosa es ver a los jugadores en video, otra es hacerlo en vivo, otra es jugando un partido y otra es entrenando”, admitió en su presentación, matizando que su análisis “era con un sistema de juego diferente”. “Estos días marcarán y me daré cuenta para qué estamos”, argumentó.
Si hay algo que no negocia Almeyda es la identidad de juego. Sus equipos suelen construirse desde la base, detectando esos espacios que permitan ataques rápidos y verticales, con extremos muy abiertos y una movilidad constante. Además, no escatima en riesgos a la hora de presionar alto, especialmente tras pérdida. Todo ello con el denominador común del compromiso colectivo: “Buscaremos nuestra identidad propia, que no se entregue ni se rinda y que viva el fútbol con amor y pasión. Que demuestre al público que queremos ganar dejándonos el alma. Hay que corregir los errores propios. Vamos a construir una casa nueva y comenzaremos por los cimientos para llegar bien armados al primer partido”.
Adaptación a la plantilla
Al igual que defiende un estilo de fútbol dinámico y ofensivo, Matías Almeyda da una importancia fundamental al equilibrio entre el orden y la pasión de sus equipos. La organización es un aspecto básico con tal de poder mantener la intensidad en los partidos. No solamente se muestra optimista respecto a esta nueva etapa en el Sevilla, sino que cree firmemente en sus posibilidades. “Seguramente veremos algo con lo que el público se sienta identificado. Buscaremos el triunfo a través de dejarnos el alma. Estamos exigiendo mucho, hay mucha predisposición”, destacó el técnico argentino.
Teniendo en cuenta sus primeros días en el Sevilla, no se prevé que Almeyda sea un hombre de enormes exigencias al club ni discursos grandilocuentes, prefiriendo adaptarse a lo que ya dispone para crecer desde ahí con trabajo y pragmatismo. De hecho, opina que la plantilla “tiene buenos jugadores, algunos que estuvieron bien, otros que perdieron la confianza”. Con todo el verano por delante, evaluará quiénes le ponen corazón a cada acción en los partidos y los entrenamientos. De momento su objetivo está claro: “Nuestro sueño, nuestro deseo, es ver un equipo competitivo que represente la historia de este club”.
