Grammy-winning singer Coco Jones and Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell have sent shockwaves through the celebrity world, announcing their engagement on Friday, July 11, via Instagram.
The news comes after the couple largely managed to keep the details of their two-year relationship under wraps, making the announcement an even bigger surprise for fans.
“After an amazing season and a sold-out tour, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones took a moment to recharge on vacation, which turned it into a beautiful engagement,” representatives for the couple shared in a joint statement to PEOPLE. “The couple has been dating for two years and look forward to building a life together.”
Both Jones, 27, and Mitchell, 28, shared a tender photo of themselves kissing on social media, with Jones proudly showcasing a sparkling, large engagement ring on her hand resting on Mitchell’s chest.

The NBA star also gave fans an intimate glimpse into the proposal itself, posting an overhead video of the moment he got down on one knee by what appeared to be a picturesque resort pool surrounded by swaying palm trees.
The heartwarming clip shows the couple walking casually before Mitchell stops, kneels, and, after Jones accepts, they share a loving embrace.
While speculation about their romance has circulated for some time, the “ICU” singer has consistently maintained a private stance on her personal life. “I’m happy, and that’s all I got to say about it,” Jones told The Breakfast Club back in April, expertly deflecting questions.

Earlier in February, when pressed about the relationship on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast following online buzz, Jones playfully acknowledged, “I love the internet because they definitely clocked my tea. I love that. Little spies everywhere. I feel like I’m in a detective movie.”
Despite their efforts to keep their romance out of the spotlight, the happy couple is now openly celebrating their commitment, ushering in an exciting new chapter for the Grammy winner and the NBA star.
