Er ist der Neue im deutschen Beachhandball-Team und mit seinen 18-Jahren auch mit Abstand der Jüngste. Die EM in der Türkei ist sein Debüt bei den Großen. Doch Jannis Herr (18) ist schon jetzt einer der besten Shooter im Team.
In der Vorrunde schraubte der Debütant gegen Portugal 23 Punkte (12 Tore, elfmal für zwei Punkte und einmal einen Zähler) Deutschland fast im Alleingang zum Sieg, und das erst in seinem dritten A-Länderspiel für die Beachhandball-Nationalmannschaft. Vor dem Turnier spielte Herr bisher nur in der Jugendauswahl. Auch im Hauptrunden-Finale gegen Dänemark war unser Sand-Herr bester deutscher Scorer.
Wie geht das denn?: DIESES Tor zählt doppelt!
Herr kommt aus einer wahren Sand-Dynastie. Seine Schwester Mia (17) holte mit der U17-Auswahl gerade erst WM-Silber im Beachhandball und wurde als beste Spielerin des Turniers (MVP) ausgezeichnet.
Jannis verrät: „Schon meine Eltern Stefan und Judith haben beim gleichen Verein wie ich jetzt Beachhandball gespielt. Ich bin quasi im Sand groß geworden und hatte schon einen Ball in der Hand, bevor ich sprechen konnte. Zwei Minuten hinter dem Haus, wo wir in Kelkheim wohnen, ist ein Beachplatz. Da war es naheliegend, dass ich Beachhandballer werde.“
Herr spielt in der Halle noch bei der TSG Münster in der 3. Liga, aus der sich im Sommer immer das Strandteam „Beach & da Gang Münster“ zusammenfindet. Vier davon sind bei der EM dabei.

Und dann verrät das Beach-Talent noch sein Treffer-Rezept. Herr schmunzelt: „Ich weiß, ich bin da noch nicht so professionell mit der Ernährung wie die anderen Jungs, aber wenn ich früh mein Nutella-Brot bekomme, läuft es.“
Und er schiebt nach: „Ich habe ein wenig Probleme mit dem Essen auswärts, ich bin da eher ein Heimgenießer, was die Mama kocht. Und wenn es nichts gibt, was mir schmeckt – ich bin da leider sehr speziell – dann hilft eben Nutella-Brot.“
[–>Bundestrainer Marten Franke (29) ist trotz Nutella-Konsums begeistert von seinem Sand-Juwel: „Er ist mit Abstand der Jüngste bei uns, aber schon ein sehr reifer Spieler. Er ist nicht nur ein toller Abschlussspieler, sondern auch Entscheider, er kann das Spiel gut lesen, ist sehr variabel, hat eine gute Athletik, hat einfach das Beachhandball-Spiel verstanden.“
Und wie werden die Jungs eigentlich den vielen Sand wieder los? Jannis Herr lacht: „Das ist das Schöne am Strand, wir gehen einfach direkt nach jedem Spiel ins Meer. Im Hotel wird dann nochmal nachgeduscht und abends das Zimmer einmal durchgefegt und die Betten geschüttelt, Sand auf dem Laken nervt. Haben wir keinen Besen, helfen jede Menge Handtücher.“
