El Dakar 2026 tendrá una marca española en la categoría reina de los coches. Ebro, que volvió como fabricante de automóviles a finales del año pasado, seguirá su expansión con la entrada en competición, por la puerta de la prueba más dura del mundo: el Dakar 2026.
Lo hará, además, con la máxima ambición: con un equipo oficial que peleará con fabricantes del prestigio de Ford,Toyota, Dacia o Mini con un coche de la categoría T1+, la clase reina del Dakar… y del Mundial de Rally Raid W2RC. Ebro ya tuvo una discreta presencia en la carrera árabe ya que apadrinó la categoría Dakar Future (reservada para vehículos con energías alternativas) en el año 2022 con un pequeño SSV eléctrico que apenas actuó como coche 0.

Para este desafío, Ebro se basará en un coche ya existente, de modo que pueda partir el 3 de enero, el día en el que arrancará la edición número 48 del Rally Dakar, con garantías de, al menos, poder hacer un buen papel en este ptimer año de un proyecto que será a largo plazo.
Un fabricante en plena expansión
La resurrección de Ebro, la popular marca de todoterrenos, furgonetas y camiones fundada a mediados de los años 50, tuvo lugar en 2023 con el apoyo de capital chino (está bajo el paraguas del gigante Chery y comparte ADN con marcas como Omoda o Jaecco). Con esa base, la marca se ha establecido en nuestro país en las antiguas instalaciones de Nissan en Zona Franca (ahora llamada Ebro Factory), donde la marca fabrica sus todocaminos de producción.
En poco más de un año ya tiene en el mercado tres todocaminos electrificados, los s400, s700 y s800 y, entre otros hitos importantes, se ha convertido en patrocinador principal de la Selección Española de Fútbol.
