Die Engländerin, die für CBS Sports u.a. von der Champions League berichtet, wurde als mögliche Teilnehmerin für ein Promi-Duell bei „Misfits Boxing“ gehandelt. Sogar das Training mit Ehemann und Box-Coach Malik Scott (44) hatte bereits begonnen.
Videos zeigten die sportliche Journalistin beim Schlagtraining in Los Angeles. An ihrer Seite: Malik, Ex-Profi mit beeindruckender Kampfbilanz (38 Siege, 3 Niederlagen, 1 Unentschieden) und bekannt als Trainer von Ex-Weltmeister Deontay Wilder (39).
Noch im vergangenen Jahr hatte die ehemalige Sky-Moderatorin die Gerüchte um einen Kampf selbst angeheizt. „Ich werde diesen Sommer kämpfen. Ich trainiere für etwas. Findet die richtige Person für mich, ich werde gegen sie kämpfen“, sagte Scott im TV.

Doch nun die überraschende Kehrtwende: Ehemann Malik hat seiner Frau das Boxen verboten – aus Liebe.
In einem Interview mit „Thunderpick“ spricht der frühere Schwergewichtler Klartext: „Ich würde sagen, es ist für immer vorbei.“ Er erklärt: „Ich bin seit ein paar Jahren in Kate verliebt, und meine Gefühle sind immer stärker geworden. Anfangs fand ich die Idee, dass sie boxt, interessant. Aber ich bin so verrückt nach dieser Frau, dass ich sie heute niemals im Ring sehen will.“

Weiter sagt er: „Wir haben uns Kämpfe zusammen angeschaut, aber ich will nicht, dass sie boxt. Ich habe sie nicht überredet, es zu lassen. Aber meine Ausstrahlung spricht für sich. Ich bringe das Thema nicht mehr auf.“
Ob Kate weitertrainieren wird oder sich neuen Projekten widmet, ist unklar. Ein Auftritt im Boxring ist aber vorerst vom Tisch.
