On January 26, 2020, the news shook the entire sports world. The Los Angeles Lakers star lost his life in a helicopter accident in Calabasas, California. Upon learning of the tragedy, the sports community mourned the loss of one of the greatest figures the game had ever seen.
Now, more than five years later, his daughter Capri, who is now six, has recreated one of her father’s most iconic images, proving just how fresh his memory remains. The photo was shared by Vanessa Bryant, capturing a striking resemblance to her late father.
Vanessa Bryant looks like she’s been ‘touched by a magic wand’
In the picture, Capri is seen inside a gym holding a basketball in one hand, gazing upward while wearing plaid pants. An older photograph shows Kobe in nearly the same pose, but dressed in his Lakers uniform. “Like father, like daughter” could easily have been the caption.

Remembering Kobe on Capri’s sixth birthday
Back in June, Vanessa Bryant also shared other images of Capri as she celebrated her sixth birthday. The occasion did not go unnoticed by the proud mother, who documented the joyful day alongside her youngest daughter.
In December of last year, Vanessa posted pictures from another family celebration – her daughter Bianka’s eighth birthday – where the little girl appeared smiling and dressed in an age-appropriate outfit.
Life has gone on for Vanessa and her daughters since the tragic passing of Kobe and their eldest child, Gianna, who was 13 at the time of the accident. Though the path has been far from easy, they continue moving forward, holding tightly to the memories of their loved ones.
A legendary career for Kobe Bryant in the NBA
Known as the “Black Mamba,” Kobe Bryant entered the NBA in 1996. He was selected in the first round of the draft by the Charlotte Hornets but quickly expressed his desire not to play for the franchise. Recognizing his immense potential, the Los Angeles Lakers traded for him just 15 days later, sending Vlade Divac in return.
From there, Bryant went on to lead the Lakers to multiple championships, restoring the franchise’s glory and solidifying its status as one of the most storied teams in NBA history.
The void he left behind has been enormous and difficult to fill for both his teammates and the league as a whole. Today, his memory remains vivid; a player of such stature will never be forgotten. The love of his daughters and wife continues to honor him eternally, cherishing the moments they once shared.
Kobe Bryant won a total of five NBA Championships in these seasons: 1999-2000, 2000-2001, 2001-2002, 2008-2009, and 2009-2010. And he was the MVP Finals in 2009 and 2009, and league’s MVP in 2008.
