Sprinter Groves překvapil na Tour jasnou výhrou z úniku. Boj o vítězství ovlivnil i nepříjemný pád

Ve zvlněné předposlední etapě věřila v šanci na úspěch takřka polovina pelotonu. Už od úvodu byl o únik skutečně enormní zájem. Cyklisté jeli v obrovském tempu, úvodní chaos navíc přiživoval i vydatný déšť. Dopředu se snažili dostat klasikáři, vrchaři, ale také sprinter Groves. „Zvažovali jsme, že bych se spíš šetřil na neděli. Ale měl jsem super nohy, navíc mi vyhovoval déšť a chladné počasí,“ líčil.

Úspěšný únik se stanovil až po přibližně šedesáti kilometrech. Vepředu šlapala třináctka závodníků včetně jmen jako Matteo Jorgenson, Tim Wellens, Ívan Romeo nebo Jordan Jegat, jenž úspěšně útočil na desátou příčku Bena O’Connora v celkovém pořadí.

20. etapa Tour de France 2025

Do sólového útoku se z vedoucí skupiny pustil právě Jegat a následně i Australan Harry Sweeny, ale oba byli postupně dojeti pronásledovateli.

V čele se po posledním stoupání dne vytvořila vedoucí šestice, kterou však zredukovala záludná zatáčka 21,5 kilometrů před finišem. Do ostré zákruty na mokré vozovce vjel naprosto nesmyslnou rychlostí Španěl Romeo.

Nejmladší účastník Tour neměl šanci manévr ustát, ostře se poroučel k zemi, a navíc se ošklivě potloukl o obrubník. Nakonec nasedl zpět na kolo a etapu dokončil s velkou ztrátou. Zatáčku nezvládl ani domácí Romain Grégoire, který rovněž spadl, a Ital Simone Velasco musel úplně zabrzdit, aby se vyhnul karambolu.

Záludný moment zvládla jen trojice Groves, Nizozemec Frank van den Broek a Brit Jake Stewart. Dvojice mladíků ale klíčovou chvilku naprosto protaktizovala. Kaden Groves rozjel v čele vysoké tempo, nicméně bez záměru zaútočit. Přesto se osamostatnil v čele, jelikož zbylé duo naprosto zaváhalo o a nechalo Australana odjet. „Jenom na sebe koukali, tak jsem za to vzal. A závěr už jsem prostě jel naplno,“ popisoval 26letý jezdec týmu Alpecin-Deceuninck.

Poslední kilometry Groves zvládl bravurně a coby sprinter si mohl užít unikátní moment, když si dojel pro sólové vítězství. „Je to neskutečné. Znamená to pro mě hodně. Hlavou se mi honí ohromné množství emocí,“ rozplýval se.

Belgická stáj tak slaví už třetí triumf na letošní Tour poté, co první etapu ovládl Jasper Philipsen a druhou Mathieu van der Poel. Oba však ze závodu postupně odstoupili. „Přijeli jsme sem se spoustou plánů s Jasperem a Mathieuem, ale nakonec jsem svou šanci dostal i já. Doposud se mi nedařilo ji využít, ale teď to konečně vyšlo,“ pochvaloval si Groves.

Australan již dokázal ovládnout dvě etapy na italském Giru a hned sedm na španělské Vueltě, kde dvakrát získal i zelený dres. Nyní zkompletoval cennou sbírku vítězství na největších etapácích světa. „Říkal jsem si, jestli jsem dostatečně dobrý, abych vyhrál i na Tour. A ukázal jsem, že ano,“ usmál se.

Druhou příčku nakonec obsadil Van den Broek, týmový kolega Pavla Bittnera z Picnic PostNL. Jediný český zástupce dojel v grupetu na 146. místě s mankem necelých 29 minut. Průběžně mu patří 133. příčka.

Mezi jezdci na celkové pořadí se nezávodilo. Už čtvrté celkové vítězství na Tour de France v kariéře zítra stvrdí Slovinec Tadej Pogačar, opět druhý skončí Dán Jonas Vingegaard. Pro třetí místo a bílý dres nejlepšího mladíka si dojede Němec Florian Lipowitz.

21. etapa Tour de France 2025

Cyklisté už vyhlížejí cíl v Paříži. Bude se však ještě bojovat o velmi cenný etapový triumf. Upravená trať ve hlavním městě Francie je ale velkým otazníkem. Jezdce čekají hned tři kostkové výjezdy na Montmartre, což dává šanci spíše klasikářům než sprinterům.
