Die Sport-Welt trauert um Laura Dahlmeier († 31).

Die frühere Biathletin ist bei einer Expedition im Karakorum-Gebirge in Pakistan ums Leben gekommen. Das teilte das Management der Ex-Sportlerin in einem Statement mit.

[–>„Laura Dahlmeier ist am 28. Juli am Laila Peak (6069m) im pakistanischen Karakorum-Gebirge bei einem Bergunfall auf 5700m durch Steinschlag tödlich verunglückt. Die Rettungsaktion zur Bergung blieb erfolglos und wurde am Abend des 29. Juli eingestellt.

Laura Dahlmeier und ihre Seilpartnerin befanden sich am Morgen des 28. Juli im Abstieg vom Gipfel des Laila Peaks im pakistanischen Karakorum Gebirge. Während eines Abseilmanövers auf rund 5700 Metern wurde Laura Dahlmeier von Steinschlag erfasst. Ihre unverletzte Seilpartnerin setzte sofort einen Notruf ab, eine Rettungsaktion wurde umgehend eingeleitet.

Eine Bergung durch die Seilpartnerin wurde über viele Stunden versucht, war aufgrund der Schwere des Geländes und des weiterhin anhaltenden Steinschlags aber unmöglich. Nachdem die Seilpartnerin außerdem keine Lebenszeichen vernehmen konnte, entschied sie sich während der Nachtstunden für einen Rückzug aus der Gefahrenzone und den weiteren Abstieg.

Am Morgen des 29. Juli konnte Laura Dahlmeier bei einem Überflug eines Militärhubschraubers gesichtet werden, es waren jedoch keine Lebenszeichen wahrnehmbar. Aufgrund technischer und bergetechnischer Limitierungen des Hubschraubers konnte eine Rettung aus der Luft nicht durchgeführt werden. Auch eine terrestrische Rettung war wegen der anhaltenden Steinschlaggefahr und der objektiven Gefahren am Unfallort nicht möglich.

Auf Grundlage der Erkenntnisse aus dem Hubschrauber-Überflug und der Schilderungen der Seilpartnerin zur Schwere der Verletzungen, ist vom sofortigen Tod Laura Dahlmeiers auszugehen. Mit Einsetzen der Dunkelheit wurde die Bergung am Abend eingestellt. Die Seilpartnerin wurde, von zu ihr aufgestiegenen akklimatisierten Bergsteigern, in das Basecamp begleitet. Sie ist unverletzt und wird vor Ort betreut.

Die Bergung des Leichnams ist für die Rettungskräfte unter den aktuell vorherrschenden schwierigen Bedingungen mit Steinschlag und einem Wetterumschwung am Laila Peak mit einem zu hohen Risiko verbunden und nicht realisierbar.

Es war Laura Dahlmeiers ausdrücklicher und niedergeschriebener Wille, dass in einem Fall wie diesem, niemand sein Leben riskieren darf, um sie zu bergen. Ihr Wunsch war es, ihren Leichnam in diesem Fall am Berg zurückzulassen. Dies ist auch im Sinne der Angehörigen, die außerdem ausdrücklich darum bitten, Lauras letzten Wunsch zu respektieren.

Ein großer Dank der Familie gilt dem Rettungsteam, allen voran den zu Hilfe gekommenen Bergsteigern vor Ort. Sie haben alles Bestmögliche versucht, um eine Rettung zu ermöglichen und zur Verunfallten vorzudringen.

Laura Dahlmeier befand sich bereits seit Ende Juni gemeinsam mit Freunden in der Region und hatte am 08. Juli erfolgreich den Great Trango Tower (6.287 m) bestiegen. Der Laila Peak (6069 m) war das zweite Gipfelziel der Expedition.

Laura Dahlmeier gehörte zu den besten und bekanntesten Biathletinnen der Welt. Nach ihrem Karriereende 2019 widmete sie sich mit großer Leidenschaft dem Bergsport. Die gebürtige Garmisch-Partenkirchnerin war staatlich geprüfte Berg- und Skiführerin, aktives Mitglied bei der Bergwacht und galt als erfahrene Bergsteigerin. Der Biathlon-Welt blieb sie als ZDF TV Expertin treu.

Sie hat uns vorgelebt, dass es sich lohnt für die eigenen Träume und Ziele einzustehen und sich dabei immer treu zu bleiben. Wir sind von Herzen dankbar, liebe Laura, dass wir an deinem Leben teilhaben durften. Unsere gemeinsamen Erinnerungen geben uns Kraft und Mut unseren Weg weiterzugehen.“
