Isaiah Hartenstein (27) gewann mit den Oklahoma City Thunder als zweiter Deutscher nach Dirk Nowitzki die NBA-Meisterschaft. Nun ist der deutsche Basketball-Star auf Heimatbesuch. Sein erster „seit zwei oder drei Jahren“, wie er offenbarte. Auf die Frage, was er in dieser Zeit am meisten vermisst hat, antwortete der 2,13-Meter-Mann ohne eine Sekunde zu zögern: „Döner!“
Hartenstein erzählt schmunzelnd: „Einen guten Döner haben wir da (in den USA, d. Red.) leider nicht gefunden. Daher war es das erste hier: Wir sind direkt zum Dönerladen gegangen.“

Doch Hartenstein ist nicht nur aus kulinarischen Gründen in seinem Heimatland (geboren in Quakenbrück). Im vergangenen Dezember ist er als Investor bei BBL-Vizemeister Ratiopharm Ulm eingestiegen.
Und dort will er nicht nur sein Geld, sondern auch seine Erfahrung einbringen. Daher leitet er am Sonntag ein Jugendcamp im Rahmen des „iHart-Basketball-Familienfestes“ in Ulm.

Hartenstein: „Ich bin hier aufgewachsen und versuche, so viel wie möglich für Deutschland zu tun. Und für mich heißt das, in die NBA zu kommen.
NBA-Pokal erstmals überhaupt in Deutschland
Über „seinen“ Klub Ulm sagt er: „Sie haben sehr vielen Leuten geholfen, in die NBA zu kommen. Dieses Jahr hatten wir zwei First-Round-Picks (Noa Essengue und Ben Saraf, d. Red.). Wir versuchen, so vielen Jugendlichen wie möglich diesen Traum zu erfüllen, damit sie nicht Richtung College auf das schnelle Geld gehen.“ Denn: „Die meisten deutschen Talente schaffen es nicht aus dem College heraus.“
[–>Das „iHart“-Fest findet am Sonntag am Orange Campus statt. Hartenstein hat dann auch den NBA-Meisterpokal mit im Gepäck, der erstmals überhaupt in Deutschland zu sehen sein wird. Es wird zudem ein 3×3-Turnier gespielt und ein Dunking-Wettbewerb veranstaltet.
Dazu gibt es Food-Trucks, an denen sich die Besucher verköstigen können. Ob sich der prominente Gast höchstpersönlich für einen Döner-Stand starkgemacht hat, ist allerdings nicht überliefert …
