The coach specifically highlighted rookies Phil Mafah and Jaydon Blue, praising not only their physical talent but also their mental approach. “I’ve been really impressed with how mature they are,” Schottenheimer said, noting that their mindset sets them apart from many young players.
The Dallas Cowboys’ head coach also highlighted the behavior and professionalism of these rookies during team meetings and beyond. “Blue and Mafah don’t look like rookies right now,” Schottenheimer said. “They’re sharp in meetings, they’re taking coaching well, and they’re stacking good days on top of each other.”
Schottenheimer also took a moment to single out Jaydon Blue for individual praise, expressing satisfaction with the rookie’s progress. “Blue has some juice. There’s a tempo to how he plays. He’s learning fast, and you can see him getting more comfortable each day,” the coach said.

The list of standout players at Oxnard, as part of the All-America Team’s training camp, included KaVontae Turpin, Miles Sanders, Javonte Williams, Jaydon Blue, Hunter Luepke, Donovan Wilson, Kaiir Elam, Malik Hooker, and Marist Liufau, each recognized by Schottenheimer for their impressive performances.
For now, the team is hoping for positive news regarding the contract extension of Micah Parsons, a storyline that has dominated the offseason.
