The release of Madden NFL 26 quarterback ratings has stirred debate, particularly among Dallas Cowboys fans who noticed one glaring omission: Dak Prescott. Despite his track record and recovery from injury, Prescott failed to crack the game’s top-10 quarterback list, causing frustration among fans and analysts alike.
Prescott is coming off a difficult 2024 season plagued by a hamstring injury that limited his availability and impact. However, entering the 2025 season fully healthy and motivated, he’s positioned to lead the Cowboys in a comeback year.

For that reason, many expected him to be included among the top-ranked quarterbacks in EA Sports’ latest installment of Madden. Instead, he was left out entirely.
The official list, released by EA on July 31, 2025, featured notable names such as Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, both receiving 99 overall ratings. Joe Burrow (97) and Patrick Mahomes (95) rounded out the top four.
Surprisingly, Mahomes’ lower-than-usual rating also raised eyebrows. Even more surprising to Cowboys fans, two quarterbacks from the NFC East, Jalen Hurts (No. 8) and Jayden Daniels (No. 10), were included, while Prescott remained on the outside looking in.
Is EA underestimating Dak?
Prescott’s Madden NFL 26 rating sits at 84 overall, according to multiple reports. That’s a dip from his 90 overall rating in Madden 25, which came on the heels of a 2023 season where he led the league in touchdown passes (36), posted a 69.5% completion rate, and maintained a 105.9 passer rating.
At the time, he was ranked the No. 5 quarterback in the game, behind only Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, and Burrow.
To fall from No. 5 to being left off the list entirely, especially after a season mostly derailed by injury rather than poor performance, feels like a harsh downgrade.
The current 84 rating doesn’t reflect what many believe to be Prescott’s actual value when healthy. And with Prescott now fully recovered and heading into a pivotal season for Dallas, the omission has only amplified criticism of EA’s rating methodology.
Fans argue the snub isn’t just a reflection of stats but of EA’s broader tendency to underestimate Prescott’s leadership and consistency. As the highest-paid player on the Cowboys roster, expectations remain high, and this digital slight may only serve as added motivation heading into the 2025 season.
Ultimately, whether intentional or not, EA Sports’ decision has lit a fire under one of the NFL’s most scrutinized quarterbacks. Prescott will now have to prove his worth not just on the field, but in the eyes of the Madden creators as well.
