Micah Parsons trade request: three potential landing spots for the Cowboys star

It’s official-Micah Parsons wants out of Dallas.

After weeks of tension between the star linebacker and the Cowboys front office, multiple league sources confirm that Parsons has formally requested a trade. The All-Pro defender, who has been the centerpiece of Dan Quinn’s defense for the past three seasons, is now on the market-setting the stage for what could be the biggest player move of the2025 offseason.

Micah Parsons adds fuel to the fire amidst Cowboys contract extension drama

The Cowboys had been dragging their feet on an extension, despite Parsons’ elite production. And according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, today’s trade request was the result of “months of growing frustration over stalled contract negotiations and a perceived lack of respect from ownership.”

Now, with the league on high alert, let’s look at three teams that should be on the phone with Jerry Jones-today.

If Parsons Wants Out, These Teams Should Pick Up the Phone Immediately

  • Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are hitting reset with Pete Carroll at the helm. And if there’s one thing Carroll knows, it’s defense. Parsons could become the new anchor of a revamped unit, giving Maxx Crosby the help he desperately needs. The Athletic reported earlier this summer that Las Vegas plans to be “aggressive in reshaping the roster.” Making a deal for Parsons would be a statement-and one that fits perfectly with Carroll’s vision.
  • Detroit Lions. Detroit’s trajectory is trending sky-high. After a deep playoff run and a promising young core, the Lions are in position to go all-in. Adding Parsons alongside Aidan Hutchinson would create one of the most fearsome pass-rush duos in the NFL. The Lions were middle-of-the-pack in pressure rate last season (via PFF), and this move could be the difference between conference finalist and Super Bowl champion.
  • Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta has the offensive firepower to compete in the NFC South, but the defense is still missing that one elite playmaker. Parsons would give the Falcons an identity on that side of the ball-something they’ve lacked since the days of John Abraham. With a young, hungry team and a defense that ranked near the bottom in sacks last year, this move could push them from fringe contender to legit threat.

Micah Parsons is now the biggest name on the trade market. Whether Dallas can salvage the relationship is unclear, but if not, there are more than a few teams ready to give up serious assets for a shot at adding one of the NFL’s most disruptive defenders.

Three questions for the Padres’ offseason

CHICAGO — Last summer, as the San Diego Padres went from a .500 team to the winningest second-half outfit in the majors, a sense of joy attended their run toward the postseason. They pitched. They hit. They repeatedly did both at the same time. They rallied from deficits large and small. It quickly became a season to remember, even though it ended in gut-wrenching fashion.AdvertisementThursday night inside Wrigley Field’s visiting clubhouse, the Padres insisted that this year’s club was just as tight-knit. The product on the field, however, had been noticeably more disjointed. A slog of a summer had turned into an all-too-brief jaunt in the playoffs. Another tantalizing opportunity had flown by for a core of aging players.Next year, everyone will be even older and, San Diego can hope, wiser for the experience.
