Wie mehrere Medien übereinstimmend berichten, arbeitet der Premier-League-Champion aktuell daran, durch Spielerverkäufe neue Mittel freizumachen, um ein verbessertes Angebot für den schwedischen Torjäger abzugeben.
Das erste Gebot über rund 138 Millionen Euro (laut „The Athletic“) hatte Newcastle sofort abgelehnt. Der Klub besteht weiterhin auf einer Ablöse von rund 172 Millionen Euro – eine Summe, die potenzielle Interessenten abschrecken und gleichzeitig die klare „Nicht zu verkaufen“-Haltung unterstreichen soll.

Damit ein neuer Vorstoß realistisch wird, sollen drei weitere Spieler verkauft werden, berichtet das Portal „Teamtalk“.
Tyler Morton (22) steht laut englischen Medien kurz vor einem Wechsel zu Olympique Lyon, die Gespräche befinden sich in der finalen Phase.

Federico Chiesa (27), der in Liverpool nie wirklich ankam, steht angeblich kurz vor der Rückkehr nach Italien. Atalanta gilt aktuell als heißester Kandidat – vorausgesetzt, sie verkaufen Ademola Lookman für rund 50 Millionen Euro.
Luis Diaz (28) wurde bereits für 75 Millionen Euro an den FC Bayern verkauft.
