Despite the flood of jokes, some users defended Cunningham, saying she made the right defensive read but was simply outmatched by Bueckers’ pace, handles, and footwork. “Sophie did what she was supposed to, but she didn’t have the speed to keep up,” an analyst posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Bueckers couldn’t prevent Dallas’ loss
Paige Bueckers finished the night with 22 points and 4 rebounds in 34 minutes, further cementing her impact in her debut season. However, her stellar performance wasn’t enough to alter the outcome. Dallas fell 88-78 to Indiana, marking their 21st loss of the year.
Even though Bueckers’ shot was dazzling, many fans lamented that it didn’t come with a win. “It would’ve been perfect if they had won,” one fan summed up.
