Rückkehr nach Europa! David Luiz hat einen neuen Verein – und sorgt dabei für einen echten Paukenschlag: Der brasilianische Innenverteidiger wechselt ablösefrei zu Pafos FC und unterschreibt auf Zypern einen Dreijahresvertrag bis 2027.
Luiz hatte erst im Januar 2025 beim brasilianischen Erstligisten Fortaleza unterschrieben, löste seinen Vertrag aber zum 1. August vorzeitig auf. Grund: wenig Einsatzzeit unter Trainer Renato Paiva und anhaltende Verletzungsprobleme – nur 17 Spiele standen am Ende für ihn zu Buche.

Pafos FC spielt in dieser Saison in der Qualifikation zur Champions League – Luiz soll dabei helfen, den Klub in die Königsklasse zu führen. Vorerst fällt der erfahrene Abwehrspieler allerdings mit einer Oberschenkelverletzung aus und verpasst das Hinspiel der dritten Qualifikationsrunde gegen Dynamo Kiew am Dienstag.
