Wer spielt bei der WM 2026 in den USA, Kanada und Mexiko im deutschen Tor?

Geht es nach Ex-Nationalspieler Tim Wiese (43), dann sollte Bernd Leno (33) im Kasten der DFB-Auswahl stehen.

„Erstens muss abgewartet werden, ob Marc-André ter Stegen nach seiner Verletzung zu alter Form zurückfindet – sofern er überhaupt im Verein nochmals spielen darf. Ich würde deshalb auf einen anderen Torwart für die WM setzen – zumal Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann sich klar äußerte, Manuel Neuer nicht mehr zurückzuholen“, sagt Wiese im Interview mit SPORT BILD.

Wiese spricht sich für den England-Legionär aus: „Nach Leistung Bernd Leno. Er spielt über einen langen Zeitraum in England bei Premier-League-Klub FC Fulham konstant gut. Er hätte es verdient. Ich weiß nicht, warum er nicht berücksichtigt wird. Keine Ahnung, ob es mal Querelen zwischen ihm und dem DFB gab. Auf jeden Fall ist es unverständlich, dass er keine richtige Chance bekommen hat“, sagt Wiese weiter.

Leno und Julian Nagelsmann (38) – ob das nochmal was wird?

Bei einer Nominierung durch den Bundestrainer hat Leno vor knapp einem Jahr abgesagt. „Sie haben mir gesagt, dass ich dabei wäre, aber kein Spiel bekomme. Deshalb habe ich mich dazu entschieden, in London zu trainieren“, sagte Leno der „Bild“ im Oktober 2024 zur Begründung seiner Entscheidung. Dieser Vorgang hat Nagelsmann nicht gefallen.

[–>Aktuell ist die Torwart-Situation in der Nationalelf offen – auch wenn Nagelsmann zuletzt über seinen Stammkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen (33) sagte: „Am Ende ist er unsere Nummer eins, wenn er gesund und im Verein die Nummer eins ist.“ Für mehrere Wochen wird ter Stegen jedoch wegen einer Rücken-Verletzung ausfallen. Dazu ist er in seinem Klub FC Barcelona nicht mehr gesetzt und unerwünscht.

Wiese machte für Deutschland zwischen 2008 und 2012 sechs Länderspiele. Er nahm an der WM 2010 in Südafrika sowie an der EM 2012 in Polen und der Ukraine teil. Die DFB-Auswahl wurde WM-Dritter und erreichte das EM-Halbfinale. Seine Glanzzeit hatte Wiese bei Werder. Mit den Bremern gewann er 2009 den DFB-Pokal.
