„Sonny“ schlägt ein neues Kapitel auf!
Der Deal ist fix. Heung-min Son wechselt zum Los Angeles FC. Für ihren Neuzugang haben die Amis tief in die Tasche gegriffen.
Nach 10 Jahren verlässt Son Tottenham. 333 Spiele hat der Südkoreaner allein in der Premier League absolviert – dabei rund 200 Torbeteiligungen gesammelt. Er ist bei den Spurs zu einer Vereinslegende geworden. Bei seinem neuen Arbeitgeber hat sich Son aber schon jetzt in den Geschichtsbüchern verewigt.
Denn: Der LAFC macht Heung-min Son zum teuersten Transfer der MLS-Geschichte! Laut BBC sollen die Kalifornier satte 26 Millionen US-Dollar (über 22 Millionen Euro) für Son überwiesen haben.
Damit würde Son den aktuellen Transfer-Rekord übertreffen. Anfang des Jahres wechselte Emmanuel Latte Lath (26) für etwas über 21 Millionen Euro von Middlesbrough nach Atlanta.

In seinem Abschiedsvideo erklärt der Ex-Bundesliga-Profi: „Es war eine der schwersten Entscheidungen meines Lebens.“ Und: „Aber ich glaube, jetzt ist der richtige Zeitpunkt. Ich hoffe, dass jeder meine Entscheidung versteht und respektiert.“
Son: „Ich kam als Kind nach Nord-London und gehe als erwachsener Mann. Darauf bin ich sehr stolz.“ Die Premier League verlässt er als erster Asiate, der jemals Torschützenkönig wurde. Zweimal konnte er den Preis für den Spieler der Saison abräumen, vergangene Spielzeit hat er seine Zeit bei Tottenham mit dem Europa-League-Titel gekrönt.
