O dia 9 de agosto de 2015 é uma data de ótimas memórias para o torcedor gremista. Nesta data, o Grêmio goleou o Internacional por 5 a 0, na Arena, em jogo válido pela 17ª rodada do Brasileirão daquele ano.
Naquele dia, os 46.010 torcedores presentes na Arena testemunharam o domínio e a superioridade do Grêmio sobre o rival. A goleada representou a vitória mais expressiva do lado azul em clássicos contra o Internacional desde 1912.

Naquele domingo de Dia dos Pais, o Grêmio era comandado por Roger Machado, que hoje está do outro lado. Os jogadores que entraram em campo foram: Marcelo Grohe; Rafael Galhardo, Pedro Geromel, Erazo, Marcelo Oliveira; Edinho, Maicon, Douglas (Maxi Rodríguez); Giuliano, Pedro Rocha (Fernandinho) e Luan (Bobô).
Já o Internacional estava sem técnico efetivo após a demissão de Diego Aguirre e tinha Odair Hellmann como interino. A equipe colorada foi escalada com: Alisson; William, Réver, Juan, Ernando; Rodrigo Dourado, Wellington, Anderson (Alex); Eduardo Sasha, Valdivia (Vitinho) e Lisandro López (Nilton).
O primeiro tempo teve início agitado, logo nos minutos iniciais com o pênalti perdido por Douglas, mas isso não abalou o Grêmio, que foi para o intervalo vencendo por 2 a 0, com gols de Giuliano e Luan. Na segunda etapa, a goleada foi consolidada com mais um gol de Luan, outro de Fernandinho, e um gol contra de Réver que fechou o placar.
Torcedores provocam o rival
O Grêmio utilizou as redes sociais neste sábado (9) para fazer um post em alusão aos 10 anos desse resultado histórico. As boas memórias trouxeram à tona as tradicionais provações contra o rival, neste que é um dos maiores clássicos do Brasil e do mundo.
No entanto, as boas memórias fizeram com que os torcedores questionassem o momento atual do clube. ‘Não aguento mais viver de lembrança’, disse um torcedor, cobrando melhores resultados do elenco atual.
Internacional e Grêmio se enfrentam mais uma vez ainda nesta temporada de 2025. Na 24ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro, os rivais duelam no Beira-Rio. O jogo ainda não tem data confirmada, mas deve acontecer no final de semana do dia 21 de setembro.
