With the preseason underway, the countdown is really on now for Jerry Jones to get it together and do what every single Dallas Cowboys fan wants him to do: give Micah Parsons the big contract extension he fully deserves. Jones has made a mess of things instead of making the logical move.
An extension for Parsons seemed like layup last offseason, and it remains a layup to this day. Somewhere along the way, the relationship between the front office and Parsons deteriorated. It reached a melting point following personal comments made by Jones, which Parsons took personally and used as the final straw to trigger a trade request.

Jones would have been wise to avoid more comments that may be deemed as shots or even taken out of context. But when asked about the status of contract negotiations on Saturday, Jones once again put his foot in his mouth. The owner seemed to use a sarcastic nature regarding Parsons’ health while shutting the door on any additional talk about the negotiations.
The general consensus from fans after hearing the comment was outrage, which has become the standard. Fans feel like they’re going insane, as they don’t understand what the holdup is, and why Jones keeps making “obnoxious” comments.
Jones was already on thin ice when it came to how Cowboys fans felt about him, due to the team’s lack of postseason success over the past three decades. Now, he has completely alienated them.
