Medailově zakončila Petržilková i letošní halovou sezonu, když v nizozemském Apeldoornu získala bronz se ženskou štafetou, ale pak její členky začaly trápit zdravotní potíže.
Jako jediná z medailistek závodí v létě Lada Vondrová. Překážkářka Nikoleta Jíchová si při tréninku přivodila zranění kolene a po operaci přetrženého křížového vazu vynechá celou sezonu. Svalové zranění potrápilo Glorii Lurdes Manuel, která na své trati rovněž zatím letos venku nezávodila a po vynucené pauze se vrací k plnohodnotnému tréninku.
A série trablů se začala vršit i Petržilkové, která po loňské sezoně přešla z Plzně do Prahy k trenérovi Michalu Novákovi. Dlouho věřila, že se jí podaří v létě vyběhnout, ale v neděli na Instagramu oznámila, že své snažení vzdala.
„Vlivem zranění jsem se rozhodla ukončit snahy o návrat na dráhu pro tento rok. Moje tělo dostalo obrovsky zabrat směrem k olympiádě,“ přiznávala sprinterka, která v Paříži skončila v opravném běhu svým sezonním maximem 51,46 s, byť ji během roku trápily nárazové bolesti, které se s menstruací násobily.
„Následovala operace, nemoc, zánět v kotníku, nemoc a zase zánět, které mě neustále vracely zpátky na začátek,“ vypočítávala. „Pro plnohodnotný restart si potřebuju dopřát řádný odpočinek,“ vysvětlovala.
