A vitória do Internacional sobre o Red Bull Bragantino, pela 19ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro, teve Ricardo Mathias como grande destaque. O garoto de 19 anos foi titular da equipe, marcou dois gols, um em cada tempo, e foi fundamental na construção do placar de 3 a 1, no Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques.

Não é de hoje que a torcida do Internacional demonstra insatisfação com o desempenho de Borré e Valencia. Com salários milionários, os atacantes estrangeiros não têm correspondido, e as arquibancadas já pediam uma sequência de jogos para Ricardo Mathias como titular.

Na coletiva após a partida, o técnico Roger Machado explicou os motivos pelos quais esperou para escalar o jogador entre os 11 iniciais. “O Mathias é um menino muito grande, 1,95m, acho que 95 kg, e o jogador com muita musculatura vai precisar de um preparo maior. Se a gente não tiver esse cuidado, mais com o Mathias do que com os demais, a gente corre o risco de tê-lo sucessivamente mais tempo fora, que é o que a gente não quer. Foi no momento adequado que a gente proporcionou a entrada do Mathias”, disse.

O treinador ainda lembrou o mês de abril, quando o jovem foi titular em quatro partidas seguidas, contra Nacional, Mirassol, Maracanã e Sport. Na ocasião, marcou dois gols, mas acabou se lesionando na partida contra a equipe pernambucana. Segundo Roger, Ricardo Mathias sofreu três lesões após aquele período. “De lá para cá, ele não teve uma sequência adequada de ritmo no campo de treinamento que desse a segurança para que a gente o colocasse antes”, explicou.

Roger indica que Ricardo Mathias deve ser titular contra o Flamengo

Em relação à continuidade da titularidade de Ricardo Mathias, Roger Machado deu um indício de que o cria da base colorada deve ser mantido na equipe principal contra o Flamengo, pela Libertadores. Durante uma pergunta sobre o tema, Roger lembrou que, após o centroavante ir bem contra o Nacional, em Montevidéu, ele foi novamente titular contra o Mirassol. “Olha a dica”, complementou o treinador.

Roger ainda esclareceu que, além dos jogos, os treinamentos também são essenciais para trazer respostas e fazer com que, positivamente, ele fique “refém do campo”.”Eu quero sempre ficar refém do campo. Do treino e do campo (jogo). É um processo […] é o conjunto da obra. O Ricardo vem fazendo os dois e provou que quando tu treina o jogo, tu vai jogar o treino”.
