Philadelphia Eagles starting left guard Landon Dickerson will undergo minor knee surgery after sustaining a meniscus injury in Sunday’s practice, league sources confirmed Monday. The team is considering Dickerson week to week, and is hoping the three-time Pro Bowler will be ready for their regular-season opener on Sept. 4 at home against the Dallas Cowboys.

It is favorable news considering the initial scene at Lincoln Financial Field, where an estimated crowd of 60,000 people fell silent as Dickerson hobbled with help off the field before he was carted inside.
The Eagles are hosting joint practices with the Cleveland Browns this week.
Who could fill in for Dickerson?
Dickerson has a history of playing through pain — including in last season’s Super Bowl, when he played through a knee injury that sidelined him for the second half of the NFC Championship Game and limited him in practice as late as the Wednesday before the Super Bowl. He sustained a season-ending knee injury during his final season at Alabama that sidelined him during the pre-draft process and during his first summer with the team.
The Eagles are still figuring out their guard depth. Tyler Steen is entering is first year as the full-time starter at right guard, although his primary reserve is veteran Matt Pryor, who has 25 career starts at right guard and has never started at left guard. Brett Toth has been Dickerson’s primary backup this summer, but his value is more his versatility than his starting upside. Another depth option is 2024 fifth-round pick Trevor Keegan, who has practiced at both guard and center this summer.
The Eagles could also consider Kenyon Green, a 2022 first-round pick by the Houston Texans who was acquired in a trade for C.J. Gardner-Johnson in March. Green has 23 career starts at left guard, but he’s been slowed by injuries this summer. He did not practice on Saturday or Sunday due to a shoulder injury. — Zach Berman, senior NFL writer
