Zuletzt sorgte Ex-NBA-Star Gilbert Arenas (43) für Aufsehen, weil er illegale Pokerrunden organisiert haben soll (BILD berichtete). Statt im Casino wurde bei ihm offenbar privat um Summen im sechsstelligen Bereich gezockt. Folge: Er wurde verhaftet. Andere Prominente hatten dabei etwas mehr Glück, obwohl sie auch bei illegalen Poker-Partien mit am Start waren.
Diese Hollywood-Stars waren auch schon involviert
Zwar ist Pokern gesetzlich nicht verboten, wer allerdings in den USA außerhalb lizensierter Räume Poker spielt oder veranstaltet, begeht in vielen Bundesstaaten eine Straftat. Der Fall Arenas reiht sich ein in eine lange Liste prominenter Poker-Eskapaden. Besonders berüchtigt: Die exklusive Highstakes-Runde rund um Hollywoods Elite, bekannt geworden durch die „Molly’s Game“-Affäre.
Gastgeberin Molly Bloom organisierte Pokerabende mit den Schauspiel-Stars wie Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck und Tobey Maguire. Gespielt wurde in den luxuriösesten Hotel-Suiten der USA. Wie auch im aktuellen Fall von Arenas, fand das Ganze ohne gültige Lizenz statt. Als das FBI ermittelte, flog das ganze System auf. Bloom musste sich vor Gericht verantworten, einige ihrer Gäste zahlten empfindliche Strafen oder landeten auf schwarzen Listen der Casinos. Die Story schaffte es 2017 sogar auf die großen Kinoleinwände Hollywoods.
