The Dallas Cowboys were thoroughly outplayed in their 31-13 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and frustration among fans has reached a boiling point, much of it directed at head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Social media lit up during and after the game, with fans calling for his dismissal amid an embarrassing performance that raised serious concerns ahead of the regular season.

The Cowboys were sluggish, unorganized, and visibly outcoached from the opening drive. Baltimore’s backups, led by former Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush, looked sharper, more prepared, and far more cohesive.
Rush, returning to AT&T Stadium in a Ravens jersey, threw for 198 yards and a touchdown while also tossing a pick-six. His 1-yard fourth-down touchdown pass to Keith Kirkwood in the second quarter was a sharp reminder of what Dallas lost.
Meanwhile, Dallas struggled to generate any momentum. In the first half, the Cowboys gained just 31 total yards and had only two first downs. The Ravens ran 50 plays to Dallas’ 19 before halftime, outgaining them 273-31 and taking an 18-7 lead into the break. The game felt over before it ever really started.
Fans sound off as offense stalls again
Second-year quarterback Joe Milton, vying for the backup role Rush vacated, looked overwhelmed in extended action. He completed just 9 of 18 passes for 122 yards and an interception.
While he connected with Jonathan Mingo on a 49-yard strike that set up a field goal, the offense lacked any consistent rhythm. Mingo, who led the team in receiving yards, later exited with a knee injury, adding to the Cowboys’ growing list of concerns.
Schottenheimer’s offensive game plan was repeatedly questioned on social platforms like X, with many fans voicing confusion about the direction of the offense and calling for fresh leadership.
“Brian Schottenheimer just lost me by kicking a field goal on 4th-and-5 in the preseason. Get another rep for your offense! They clearly need it!,” wrote one fan.
Another wrote: “Brian Schottenheimer is a joke hire. Gonna be a long season.”
A third added: “Joe Milton has been bad but has he been worse than Brian Schottenheimer?”
One final fan wrote: “If Joe Milton makes the 53 man roster, then Brian Schottenheimer can’t be a serious head coach. Jerry should fire him on the spot.”
Despite featuring promising young talent, including first-round pick Tyler Booker on the offensive line, Dallas looked outmatched and unprepared.
On the other side, Baltimore’s rookie kicker Tyler Loop drilled five field goals, including two from beyond 50 yards, while D’Ernest Johnson added a fourth-quarter rushing score. The Ravens didn’t need their starters to dominate a disjointed Cowboys squad that looked like it had no answers.
With preseason halfway done and the regular season looming, the heat is on Schottenheimer. The Cowboys need to find their identity, and fast, or fans’ calls for change could become deafening.
