Englands nächstes Mittelfeldjuwel steht im Fokus der Königlichen!
Real Madrid plant offenbar einen spektakulären Transfercoup – und hat sich dabei einen Newcomer aus der Premier League ausgeguckt. Wie die spanische Sportzeitung „AS“ berichtet, sind die Königlichen heiß auf Crystal-Palace-Talent Adam Wharton (21).
Der 21-jährige Engländer steht bei den Fans der „Eagles“ hoch im Kurs. Erst im Februar 2024 war Wharton für rund 21 Millionen Euro von den Blackburn Rovers nach London gewechselt – und entwickelte sich dort in Rekordzeit zum Leistungsträger. Inzwischen kommt der Linksfuß auf 46 Einsätze für Palace, bereitete sechs Tore vor und wurde sogar zum Nationalspieler. Bei der EM 2024 hatte Wharton bereits im Kader der Three Lions gestanden.
[–>Nun also das Interesse von Real Madrid. Der neue Cheftrainer Xabi Alonso (43) sieht im jungen Spielmacher offenbar den idealen Nachfolger für Luka Modrić (39). Der Schützling von Trainer Oliver Glasner (50) gilt als technisch versiert, stark am Ball und in der Lage, das Spieltempo zu diktieren – Attribute, die perfekt ins Anforderungsprofil der Madrilenen passen.
Doch billig wird der Deal nicht: Laut „AS“ verlangt Crystal Palace mindestens 80 Millionen Euro Ablöse, andere Medien sprechen gar von 120 Millionen Euro. Klar ist: Ohne einen lukrativen Verkauf – etwa von Flügelstar Rodrygo (24) – wäre ein sofortiger Transfer kaum machbar.

Hinzu kommt starke Konkurrenz. Auch Manchester United, Manchester City und der FC Liverpool jagen den englischen Mittelfeldspieler. Vor allem United soll dringend nach Alternativen suchen, nachdem Wunschspieler Carlos Baleba (21) von Brighton wohl kaum unter 115 Millionen Euro zu haben ist.
Trotz dieser Gemengelage könnte Real dennoch langfristig die Nase vorn haben. Denn die Madrilenen setzen gern auf folgenden Ansatz: frühzeitig Interesse zeigen, Spieler beobachten, um später im entscheidenden Moment zuzuschlagen. So war es auch bei Jude Bellingham (22), der mittlerweile als Königstransfer gefeiert wird.
