Actualmente, en España, las entidades bancarias deben notificar a Hacienda cualquier ingreso o retirada en efectivo superior a 3.000 euros. Además, si en una operación intervienen billetes de 500 euros, la transacción también debe ser puesta en conocimiento de la Agencia Tributaria.
Esta no es la única vez que los bancos deben dar el aviso, pues cuando se transportan más de 100.000 euros en efectivo dentro de nuestro país, la ley exige presentar un formulario especial. Recibe el nombre de S1 y se trata de una declaración que permite a la Agencia Tributaria seguir el rastro del dinero y comprobar su procedencia.

Hacer este tipo de operaciones de forma reiterada puede levantar la voz de alarma, ya que son movimientos que normalmente suelen conllevar un uso fraudulento. El objetivo de poner estos controles es dificultar la circulación de grandes sumas en efectivo para fines ilícitos, como el blanqueo de capitales o la evasión fiscal, y reforzar la protección del sistema financiero.
