Chiefs have an “energy guy” who may be just as important as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce

While there are plenty of storylines around the NFL as the season gets set to begin, it’s impossible for too much attention to shift away from the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2025, that won’t change, especially since it very well may be Travis Kelce‘s last ride with Patrick Mahomes. The two are hoping for revenge for Super Bowl LIX, but in order to get it, the offense needs to get back to elite form.

2024 was a concerning year for Andy Reid‘s offense, with a lot of its flaws being exposed. The front office worked to alleviate concerns in the offseason and Mahomes looks set for a big bounceback. It would certainly help the passinng game if the running back room can perform at a high level, which puts a spotlight on Isiah Pacheco.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are excited to see their young running back looking dominant in training camp

Isiah Pacheco is fully healthy and ready for breakout in 2025

While speaking to reporters on Monday, Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy delved a bit more into what it means to have a fully healthy Pacheco available from the get-go in 2025. Nagy sees Pacheco as a major piece to the offensive puzzle.

He’s our energy guy. Whatever he does, he brings it every single play. Last year we lost a little bit of that when he got hurt… but he came into this year in OTAs and then into training camp with a really good weight, playing fast. You see it on tape, you just – you see him finishing every single play. There’s this focus that he has right now. He’s locked in. I think he’s very, very motivated.

Pacheco was primed for a breakout heading into the 2024 season, but everything went sideways. He started his third season in a somewhat pedestrian manner, then went down in Week 2 with a fractured fibula that sidelined him for over two months. Once he came back, he simply wasn’t the same player.

It didn’t help that the Chiefs offensive line didn’t play up to its high standards, and Kareem Hunt essentially took over as the lead back for the rest of the season. But with plenty time to fully recover from the injury, it sounds like Pacheco could finally be in line for that true breakout in 2025.

WNBA players vote to authorize a strike if ‘necessary’: What it means as CBA negotiations continue

The Women's National Basketball Players Association announced Thursday that the union has authorized the executive committee to "call a strike when necessary" as players continue negotiations with the league over a new collective bargaining agreement. It is vital to note that the players are not going on strike right now. Rather, this vote signifies that a majority of the players are willing to go on strike. Per the WNBPA, 93% of eligible players participated in the vote and 98% of the votes were in favor of authorizing a strike if necessary. The historic vote is the latest escalation of the labor battle between the players and the league, which has been raging for over a year. The WNBA has never seen a work stoppage of any kind -- neither a strike nor a lockout -- and has never missed games due to […]

Ole Miss vs. Tulane prediction, pick, spread: Rebels look for second win over Green Wave, this time in CFP

One of two College Football Playoff first-round rematches takes place Saturday when No. 6 Ole Miss hosts No. 11 Tulane. The teams met in September, when Ole Miss rolled to a 45-10 win on its way to an 11-1 regular-season record. That game helped cement Trinidad Chambliss as the Rebels' quarterback of the future. Starting in place of an injured Austin Simmons, Chambliss threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns while adding 112 yards on the ground. Much has changed since that Sept. 20 meeting in Oxford. Lane Kiffin, who led Ole Miss that day, has since departed for LSU. Pete Golding, the defensive coordinator at the time, is now the Rebels' head coach. And Jon Sumrall, who was on the opposite sideline, is juggling two full-time jobs after accepting the Florida position. There's a lot in motion, and that […]
