Geht bald eine Ära bei Manchester City zu Ende?
Seit über sechs Jahren steht Weltklasse-Mittelfeldspieler Rodri (29/„Ballon d‘Or“ 2024) bei Manchester City unter Vertrag. Allerdings möchte ihn Dani Carvajal (33), sein Kollege aus der spanischen Nationalmannschaft, gerne zu Real Madrid locken.
Nicht das erste mal, dass der Sechser (Marktwert: 110 Mio. Euro) mit den „Königlichen“ in Verbindung gebracht wird. Auf der Position klafft nach dem Karriereende von Toni Kroos und dem Abschied von Alt-Star Luka Modric (AC Mailand) eine riesige Qualitäts-Lücke.
[–>Sein Vertrag in Manchester läuft noch bis Sommer 2027. Die Skyblues wollen – angesichts des Real-Interesses – gerne mit ihm bis 2029 verlängern. In Manchester fürchtet man, dass Real Madrid im nächsten Sommer den Routinier zurück in die Heimat lotsen will.
Carvajal unterstrich im Interview beim Radiosender COPE seinen Wunsch, nicht nur für Spanien mit Rodri zusammenspielen zu wollen. Carvajal: „Ich habe es ihm bereits gesagt. Ich hoffe, dass er in Zukunft bei uns im Verein sein wird, denn er ist ein großartiger Spieler. Aber im Moment verstehe ich, dass er aus einer langen Verletzungspause kommt und das Vertrauen zurückzahlen möchte, das Manchester City ihm entgegengebracht hat.“
Allerdings ist fraglich, wie oft Carvajal mit Rodri auf dem Platz stehen würde, sollte er tatsächlich zu Real wechseln. Der Vertrag des Real-Oldies läuft im Sommer aus. Für seine Position wurde mit dem Engländer Trent Alexander-Arnold bereits sein Nachfolger verpflichtet, der aktuell die Nase vorn hat.
Carvajal kehrte 2013 nach einem einjährigen Gastspiel bei Bayer Leverkusen zu Real Madrid zurück. Seitdem wurde er nicht nur Europameister (2024), sondern holte mit den „Königlichen“ auch sechs Champions-League-Titel, vier Meisterschaften und zweimal den spanischen Pokal.
Und auch mit 33 Jahren hat er weiterhin sportliche Ziele. Er träumt noch einem weiteren Champions-League-Titel sowie dem Weltmeister-Titel im Sommer mit Spanien. Ob danach wirklich Schluss wäre?
