Ex-VfB-Star Nick Woltemade (23) verrät seinem neuen Klub Newcastle United, wer sein deutscher Lieblingsspieler der Geschichte ist – und es ist keiner der üblich genannten DFB-Legenden.
„Ich mag Kai Havertz“, sagt Woltemade in seinem Vorstellungsvideo nach kurzem Überlegen.
Heißt also: Der 23-Jährige entscheidet sich für einen seiner aktuellen Teamkollegen bei der deutschen Nationalmannschaft.
Etwas kurios: Die beiden liefen bisher noch nicht gemeinsam für das DFB-Team auf. Woltemade gab sein Debüt für die A-Nationalmannschaft erst im Sommer beim Final Four der Nations League. Dort fehlte Havertz (55 Länderspiele, 20 Tore) allerdings verletzungsbedingt.
Aktuell ist der Arsenal-Profi erneut außer Gefecht gesetzt. Er musste am vergangenen Donnerstag am Knie operiert werden. Die „Gunners“ gehen nicht von einem längeren Ausfall aus.
[–>Bereits in der vergangenen Saison musste Havertz wegen Knieproblemen aussetzen, in der Rückrunde war er schon einmal wegen einer Kniesehnenverletzung operiert worden.
Wann der DFB-Star wieder auf den Platz zurückkehren kann, ist noch unklar. Bei den anstehenden Länderspiele gegen die Slowakei (4. September) und Nordirland (7. September) wird er Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann (38) fehlen. Somit spielt Woltemade erneut nicht gemeinsam mit Havertz für die Nationalelf.

Dafür werden sich die beiden ab dieser Saison in der Premier League über den Weg laufen. Havertz war 2020 für 100 Mio. Euro von Bayer Leverkusen auf die Insel zum FC Chelsea gewechselt. Von dort ging es 2023 zum FC Arsenal (für 75 Mio. Euro). Und Woltemade hat sich erst in der vergangenen Woche dazu entschieden, den VfB Stuttgart für die klubinterne Rekordablöse von bis zu 90 Mio. Euro in Richtung Newcastle zu verlassen.
Sein Premier-League-Debüt könnte Woltemade dann am 13. September gegen die Wolverhampton Wanderers geben.
