„Abych byl upřímný, šel jsem do zápasu s plánem, že budu boxovat spíš technicky. Ale po prvním kole jsem to musel změnit a tlačil jsem do toho mnohem víc, než jsem očekával,“ uvedl Soquessa ve videu na facebooku.
Příštím soupeřem pražského rodáka bude v sobotu favorizovaný Japonec Sewon Okazawa. Mistr světa z roku 2021 měl na úvod volný los. „Začal jsem s boxem před šesti lety, takže jsem sledoval všechny ty kluky, co jsou tady. Jsou to moji idolové. Připadám si jako Alenka v říši divů. Cítím se skvěle, vděčně,“ uvedl Soquessa.
Další čtyři zástupci českého boxu se představí v Liverpoolu v příštích dnech. Mistrovství světa poprvé pořádá federace World Boxing, jež bude organizovat také olympijský turnaj v Los Angeles 2028.
