Dak Prescott is proving his value to the Dallas Cowboys, validating Jerry Jones’ long-term faith, while Cam Newton believes the rest of the NFL should be on alert as the 32-year-old steps up his game.
Though the contest ended in a tie, Newton emphasized the quarterback’s growing impact and issued a warning to the rest of the league of the threat he could pose to their defenses moving forward.
Dak Prescott makes young fans dream come true after Cowboys win
The former MVP shared strong views on ESPN’s First Take following Dallas’ Sunday Night Football clash against the Green Bay Packers, which finished 40-40 and highlighted the potency of Dallas’ offense.
“If we could get Dak to keep playing how Dak is playing right now, oh my god,” Newton said. “There’s not a team that will want to see this Dak play.
“That’s all I’m saying. And ain’t never really been a Dallas Cowboys fan. I became a Dallas Cowboys fan with watching Netflix and that guy [Dak]. But other than that man, I know a good team when I see a good team.
“And that team right there shows me that, hey, we don’t have a star. We don’t have an alpha. We don’t have a stud. Now it’s making everybody around us do your job, ‘Hey, you just do your job, bro, I promise I got you.'”
The Dallas signal-caller has started 2025 with efficiency and consistency. Through four games, he has thrown for 1,119 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, underlining how central he has been to the Cowboys’ offensive success.
Despite Dallas sitting at 1-2-1 and occupying third place in the NFC East, Prescott’s early-season play has injected hope into a campaign that could have faltered.
Yet despite their QB’s efforts, the team’s offensive execution has been markedly improved compared to last year, though defensive lapses have left them struggling to close out games.
And the road ahead remains complicated. Dallas finds itself in an NFC East division with the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders too.
At 4-0, Philadelphia has shown few weaknesses, particularly in the trenches, where their offensive and defensive lines continue to dictate contests, whilst the Commanders are in second place with a 2-2 record.
For Dallas, making a playoff run will require more than just Prescott’s production. The defense, which has struggled to maintain consistency, must rise to match the offense’s momentum.
Otherwise, their quarterback’s standout play may not translate into victories where it matters most.
