Estaduais reduzidos, mudanças na Copa do Brasil e Brasileirão em março: as mudanças que a CBF fará no calendário do futebol

O calendário do futebol brasileiro para 2026 será anunciado na próxima quarta (1/10) pela CBF, e trará um pacote de alterações que promete mexer com a rotina dos clubes. A partir da próxima temporada, os campeonatos estaduais serão encurtados, passando de 16 para 11 datas, e o Brasileirão terá início em março, com uma pausa de mais de um mês durante a Copa do Mundo. A Copa do Brasil deve ganhar novo formato, enquanto a Série D será expandida para mais clubes, em paralelo a mudanças também previstas na Série C. As informações foram publicadas inicialmente no blog do jornalista Marcel Rizzo, do Estadão, e confirmadas pelo GLOBO.

A redução dos estaduais é a principal novidade e já foi comunicada às federações, que precisarão adaptar seus torneios. O ano do futebol começará em meados de janeiro, com Estaduais e Copas regionais, como a do Nordeste. O Brasileirão, por sua vez, começará já em março e seguirá até o início de dezembro, repetindo a fórmula de 2025 em que a Copa do Brasil encerrará a temporada.

A Série A será moldada pelo calendário internacional. De 11 de junho a 19 de julho, o torneio será paralisado por conta da Copa do Mundo. Jogadores convocados só poderão atuar até 24 de maio. Assim, algumas rodadas deverão ser disputadas com desfalques importantes. No caso da Copa do Brasil, o modelo segue em discussão, mas com ideias ousadas em pauta. A CBF avalia a possibilidade de que os 20 clubes da Série A só entrem a partir da terceira fase, anterior às oitavas de final. Também há conversas para ampliar o número de confrontos em jogo único e até mesmo realizar a decisão em campo neutro, a exemplo dos torneios da Conmebol.

O calendário nacional também crescerá com a Série D, que deve ter 96 clubes em vez dos 64 da edição de 2025, ampliando o número de equipes com calendário garantido ao longo do ano. Já a Série C deve passar por ajustes de formato, ainda em discussão, reforçando a tentativa da CBF de tornar mais robusta a pirâmide do futebol brasileiro.
