The Buffalo Sabres have parted ways with director of player development Adam Mair following his September arrest for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
“Adam Mair is no longer employed as our Director of Player Development,” the team said in a statement. “We wish him well.
“We will evaluate the best fit for that role moving forward. In the interim, the current player development staff will continue to handle the responsibilities of their positions.”

Mair, 46, was arraigned on felony charges on Thursday in Pittsford, N.Y., for allegedly driving under the influence and crashing his car with children in the back seat, according to WGRZ. There were no injuries as a result of the crash. He’s scheduled to return to court in December for further proceedings.
Mair’s lawyer, Stephen Sercu, did not immediately respond to The Athletic’s request for comment.
Per the original report, Mair failed field sobriety tests and initially refused a breathalyzer test but later agreed and blew a .20-percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08-percent.
Mair had been placed on leave by the Sabres after his arrest. Mair, who played for the Sabres as a forward from 2002-10, has worked with the organization in player development since 2015. Current general manager Kevyn Adams elevated Mair to director of player development in 2021. The Sabres employ three other development coaches: Tim Kennedy handles forwards, Zach Redmond handles defensemen and Seamus Kotyk handles goaltenders.
